Silksong: Volatile Flintbeetles Wish (Flintbeetle Locations)
The Volatile Flintbeetles is a Hunt Wish available in Bone Bottom. This quest sends you into the sprawling caves of The Marrow to track down and defeat three aggressive, mini-boss-like beetles. Your reward for this challenging hunt is a Memory Locket, one of the most valuable upgrades in the game.
How to Start Volatile Flintbeetles Wish
Section titled “How to Start Volatile Flintbeetles Wish”This quest becomes available at the Bone Bottom Wishwell after you have explored the Far Fields region for the first time. Simply interact with the Wishwell and accept the “Volatile Flintbeetles” hunt.

How to Track Flintbeetles
Section titled “How to Track Flintbeetles”The quest does not give you map markers. Instead, you must hunt the beetles by tracking their trail. Throughout The Marrow, look for clues on the ground: piles of smelly Flintbeetle Dung or shimmering golden stone-sheddings.
Interact with these clues to reveal a temporary scent trail. Follow the trail quickly to find the next clue or the beetle’s lair itself.
All Volatile Flintbeetle Locations
Section titled “All Volatile Flintbeetle Locations”All three beetles are hidden within The Marrow.
-
Flintbeetle #1 (West Marrow)
Section titled “Flintbeetle #1 (West Marrow)”The first beetle is located in the western part of The Marrow, not far from the main entrance from Bone Bottom. As you enter the area, look up. You will see it clinging to the ceiling rocks. Strike it with your Needle to knock it down and start the fight.

-
Flintbeetle #2 (Upper Marrow)
Section titled “Flintbeetle #2 (Upper Marrow)”This beetle is found at the highest point of The Marrow. You will need to do some tricky platforming around an old, abandoned structure to reach the peak. If you’ve rescued a captured Flea in this area before, the beetle is in the same vicinity, stuck to the rocks above.

-
Flintbeetle #3 (East Marrow)
Section titled “Flintbeetle #3 (East Marrow)”The final beetle is in the easternmost section of The Marrow. The area is recognizable by its bunches of red flowers you can pogo on. It’s located just above the last bench before the path leading to the Hunter’s March area.

How to Defeat Volatile Flintbeetles
Section titled “How to Defeat Volatile Flintbeetles”These are not normal enemies; treat each Flintbeetle as a mini-boss. They are extremely aggressive and can quickly overwhelm you if you are not careful.
- They Create Fire: Their main attacks involve spinning around their arena, tossing fireballs, and leaving a dangerous trail of fire in their wake. The battlefield will quickly become a hazard.
- Use Hit-and-Run Tactics: Flintbeetles like to corner you. Stay mobile and dash in for one or two hits when you see a brief opening, then dash out. Don’t get greedy.
- Control the Arena: If you need to heal, it’s safe to jump off their main platform to a nearby safe spot. They typically will not follow you, giving you a crucial moment to Bind.
- Clear the Area First: Before starting a fight, defeat any smaller, annoying enemies in the immediate vicinity so you can focus solely on the Flintbeetle.
Reward: Memory Locket
Section titled “Reward: Memory Locket”After defeating all three Flintbeetles and collecting their Flintgems, return to the Bone Bottom Wishwell to turn in the quest.

- Item: Memory Locket
- Effect: A precious artifact that permanently unlocks one Crest Notch. This allows you to equip more Crests at once.
