Raging Conchfly Boss Guide (How to Defeat)

The Raging Conchfly is a boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong, located in the Sands of Karak. Defeating this boss is required to gain access to the Coral Tower. This guide details its location, recommended loadouts, attack patterns, and strategies to efficiently defeat it.

Raging Conchfly

Location: Sands of Karak - Top Left Corner

Rewards: Access to Coral Tower

The Raging Conchfly is positioned east of the Coral Tower, at the top left corner of the Sands of Karak. To reach its arena, navigate through the area carefully, as it guards the pathway to the Coral Tower. Defeating the Raging Conchfly is mandatory to proceed.

  • The boss burrows constantly; attack whenever it emerges from walls or ceiling.
  • Stand near the emergence points and prepare for Threadstorm or pogo attacks.
  • Avoid engaging summons; they will despawn after synchronized attacks. Focus solely on the Raging Conchfly.
  • Pogo Attack: Required when the boss drills horizontally toward you.
  • Observation: Watch for smoke signals indicating the boss’s upcoming emergence.
  • Summons: Ignore minor conchflies and maintain positioning to counter the main boss.

Drill Attack

Melee / Horizontal & Vertical 1 Mask

The Conchfly drills horizontally or vertically and reemerges at the opposite wall.



How to Dodge: Step aside and use pogo attacks when it drills horizontally. Track the smoke to anticipate reemergence points.

Conch Spit

Ranged / Projectile 1 Mask

Spits a conch shell towards Hornet’s location; it can bounce up to four times.



How to Dodge: Side-step to dodge or attack the conch with Needle to destroy it instantly.

Sync Drill Attack (Horizontal)

Melee / Horizontal Drill 2 Masks

Summons multiple small conchflies and performs a simultaneous horizontal drill.



How to Dodge: Pick a safe side of the arena. Dodge the first horizontal drill, then land quick hits on the nearest Conchfly before it resurfaces. Repeat for each cycle.

Sync Drill Attack (Vertical)

Melee / Vertical Drill 2 Masks

Summons multiple small conchflies and performs a simultaneous vertical drill.



How to Dodge: Stand on a safe side. Dodge the vertical drill and quickly strike the nearest Conchfly before it resurfaces. Maintain awareness of steam indicators for timing.

  • Access: Defeating the Raging Conchfly grants entry to the Coral Tower.
  • Drops: No additional loot; the primary reward is progression.
  • The Raging Conchfly blocks the path to the Coral Tower, making it a required encounter.
  • Its drilling and projectile attacks test the player’s positioning, timing, and ability to punish during openings.
  • Summons serve as distractions; focus on the main Conchfly to efficiently complete the fight.
