Silksong: The Terrible Tyrant Quest

The Terrible Tyrant is a Grand Hunt, a special type of Wish that tasks you with hunting down a powerful beast. This quest will test your combat and exploration skills, sending you to a hidden part of The Marrow to slay the formidable Skull Tyrant.

How to Start the Quest

This Grand Hunt becomes available after a key story progression.

1. Defeat Sister Splinter

   You must first defeat the boss Sister Splinter in Shellwood.

2. Accept the Wish in Bone Bottom

   After the fight, return to the Wishwell in Bone Bottom. The “The Terrible Tyrant” Grand Hunt will now be posted. Interact with the board to accept it.

Required Ability: Cling Grip

You must have the Cling Grip ability (wall jump) to reach the Skull Tyrant’s hidden lair. If you don’t have it yet, you’ll need to progress further in other areas first.

Path to the Skull Tyrant

The beast is hidden in a secret area in the eastern part of The Marrow.

1. Go to the Lava Lift

   From Bone Bottom, head right into The Marrow until you reach the large lift that crosses the lava lake near the connection to the Deep Docks.

2. Enter the Hidden Area

   On the right side of the lift, look for a high passage on the wall. Use Cling Grip to climb up and into this hidden area. You must enter from this side the first time.

3. Break the Wall

   Proceed left through the initial passage, then climb upwards at a spike pit. At the top, go right and destroy a breakable wall to reveal the path forward.

4. Defeat the Skull Brute

   Continue through the new path. You’ll encounter a powerful Skull Brute mini-boss. Defeat it and keep heading right.

5. Navigate the Final Passage

   Go through a small hole into the next section. From here, head left until you see a small Skull Scuttler enemy.

6. Reach the Tyrant’s Lair

   Change direction from the Scuttler and jump up to the platforms on the right. Continue right to find a large, dormant skull at the end of the path. This is the Skull Tyrant.

How to Beat the Skull Tyrant

To start the fight, strike the giant skull at the end of the path. The Skull Tyrant is a durable boss with a straightforward moveset focused on ground charges and causing rocks to fall from the ceiling. Patience and watching the ceiling are key to victory.

Complete the Quest

After the fight, pick up the Crown Fragment from the ground. Be sure to exit through the newly opened shortcut on the left side of the arena for a much faster return trip. Head back to the Wishwell in Bone Bottom and turn in the fragment to claim your reward.

The Tyrant Returns?

Some reports indicate that after completing this hunt, the Skull Tyrant may reappear in its lair for a rematch after you rest at a bench. Be prepared if you decide to revisit the area!
