Infestation Operation Wish

Infestation Operation is a mandatory sub-quest within the larger Rite of Rebirth questline. Its sole purpose is to acquire the Steel Spines, a key item needed to cure Hornet’s parasitic curse.

How to Start This Sub-Quest

This wish only becomes available after you have been cursed by Greyroot during the Rite of Rebirth quest.

1. Find Yarnaby in Greymoor After being cursed, you must find the witch Yarnaby for help. Her locked Bellhome is in the Northwest corner of Greymoor.

2. Accept the Infestation Operation Wish Speak with Yarnaby inside her home. She will explain that she needs a special component for the cure and will give you the “Infestation Operation” wish, tasking you with finding the Steel Spines.

Walkthrough: How to Get the Steel Spines

Your objective is to travel to Sinner’s Road and acquire the item from the courier brothers. The method differs depending on your main story progression.

Act 2 Walkthrough

In Act 2, you must purchase the item from the brothers.

1. Travel to Sinner’s Road: Make your way from Greymoor to the brothers’ hut in the upper-right corner of Sinner’s Road.
2. Purchase the Steel Spines: Speak with Crull and Benjin. They will sell you the Steel Spines for 160-260 Rosaries (the cost may vary depending on game patches).

Act 3 Walkthrough

In Act 3, the brothers are no longer in their hut, making this step easier and free.

1. Travel to Sinner’s Road: Make your way to the brothers’ hut in the upper-right corner of Sinner’s Road.
2. Collect the Steel Spines: You will find the hut empty. The Steel Spines will be on the ground as a lootable item in the back of the hut. Pick it up for free.

Potential Game-Breaking Bug!

There is a known issue in some game versions where in Act 3, the brothers are gone and the Steel Spines item does not appear, permanently blocking the quest. It is highly recommended to complete this entire questline during Act 2 to avoid this bug.

Completing the Quest and What’s Next

1. Return to Yarnaby With the Steel Spines in your possession, travel back to Yarnaby’s home in Greymoor.

2. Hand Over the Item Give the Steel Spines to Yarnaby. This action completes the “Infestation Operation” wish.
