All Enemies - Hunter's Journal
Welcome to the Hunter’s Journal, your complete guide to the common creatures of Pharloom. The haunted kingdom is home to a vast and deadly new ecosystem. Team Cherry has confirmed that Silksong will feature over 150 all-new foes, a significant increase from the original game.
This section serves as a detalied index for every standard creature you will encounter. For information on more powerful adversaries, please see the dedicated Boss Guides.
The Fauna of a Haunted Land
Section titled “The Fauna of a Haunted Land”The enemies of Pharloom are designed to be more sophisticated than those in Hallownest, built specifically to challenge Hornet’s increased speed and agility. Expect to encounter creatures with armor, shields, and more dynamic behaviors that will require you to adapt your strategies and make full use of your craftable Tools.
Many enemies in Pharloom, upon defeat, release thin white strings, suggesting they may be puppets controlled by the very Silksong that haunts the kingdom.
Silksong: List of All Enemies
Section titled “Silksong: List of All Enemies”Here is a complete list of all foes—from the common crawler to the mightiest guardians—found in the haunted kingdom.
Bell Beast
A huge, hardbone bug that lives within and travels through the veins of old bells across Pharloom. This one has allied itself with me, either as thanks for their saving or respect for one judged as equal. Whichever the reason, their fellowship is welcome.
Bell Eater
A long dormant centipede, awoken and enraged by Pharloom's crumbling collapse. It is a monster in the classic form of tales from youth, and its slaying was done as much by your fierce traveling companion as by yourself.
Broodmother
Mad matriarch of the Slab, rarely seen outside her warren. From her, all jailers are born and bred. With this one vanquished, I hope to have sped the end for that jail and its distasteful order.
Clover Dancers
Dual princes of old Verdania, beloved by their subjects for their grace and for the ballet of death they delivered upon outsiders. For one to love another so similar to themselves, is that selfless or vain?
Cogwork Dancers
Automatons of impeccable construction, welcoming entrants to their chamber with a display of deadly dance. These cogwork bugs possess a singular soul, a sad yet masterful imitation of life imbued within shells of iron.
Crawfather
Lord and justice of Pharloom’s craws. Delivers death to condemned bugs with his steel plated beak. The Crawfather's judgment may not have been unfair, recognizing the player's part in the land's void-strung state, bringing much destruction to the bugs.
Crust King Khann
A hardened warrior lord from a bygone age, the Crust King Khann commands the coral crust to his bidding. His legions were utterly loyal due to his stern stewardship, which would have been a hard rule for less combative bugs.
Disgraced Chef Lugoli
Once an exulted chef, exiled from the Citadel for repeated culinary crimes. Returning to their home caves, this chef continued to devise delicacies too repulsive for any bug still sane.
Father of the Flame
Totem and god, built and worshipped by the Burning Bugs. The remains of an aged bug were housed at the pyre's heart. The structure suggested they wished for immolation. If so, I have seen their wish granted.
First Sinner
Ancient Weaver condemned for a transgression lost to time. This one's husk held a masterful talent, to weave Silk into blazing runes. Throughout my life, I have seen runes woven for many tasks. Was she the first to hone such skills?
Forebrothers Signis & Gron
Elder overseers of the Deep Docks, responsible for the oversight and punishment of lesser workers. Lost in the madness of the Haunting, they still commanded the endless excavation of their caves.
Fourth Chorus
Towering iron automaton, driven by rotor and cog. A terrifying achievement of Pharloom, to build a construct so large and yet so nimble.
Garmond & Zaza
Vigorous old knight and their noble companion, working together to see their lands cut free from haunted madness. They too seek the spectre at the Haunting's heart, though it is feared that foe would pose a challenge beyond their mortal limits.
Grand Mother Silk
Monarch of Pharloom, and the primal source of Silk. The heart of the haunting, long lulled to slumber and desperate to wake. The higher being's threads stretched throughout Pharloom, snaring its bugs and driving them to madness and discord.
Great Conchfly
An elder Conchfly adorned with a massive coral horn. These creatures are rarely seen alone, as they typically partner with another. To pair with another is a base instinct, and one that brings some bugs great joy. I once sought similar union, but of my own mates none could match my lifespan.
Groal the Great
Chief and chaplain of the Stilkin, forever raging against the Citadel that chokes their caves and sees them suffer. Their strength was much enhanced by stolen soul, and they are not the first who tried to hoard it or to mould it towards such violent ends.
Gurr the Outcast
Huge, yet stealthy Skarr. An expert trapper and master of the undergrowth. His tracks and traps… It should have been obvious from the start, this old hunter sought to draw me in. But what reason drove him to test himself so brutally? That answer I suspect I shall never know.
Lace
Manic fencer who delights in battle. A bug born entirely of thread, requiring much silk for sustained life. Despite her fragile form, she is indeed alive.
Last Judge
The final arbiter of the Blasted Steps, tasked to ensure only the sinless ever step beyond the Grand Gate. This huge Judge likely stood through countless generations, never defeated, never wavering in their charge.
Lost Garmond
Old knight consumed by black thread. A tragic fate for a once honorable bug. Those void-soaked threads, their physical might is nothing compared to the corruption they wreak upon a soul.
Lost Lace
Silk-spun child possessed by the void. To quell the mother's rage, and see this kingdom saved, I will claim her back. This one… the dark shall not take.
Moorwing
Winged mite-beast, bred large to catch workers who once tried to flee their tasks. With its wranglers long dead, the Moorwing stalked the towers of Greymoor, feasting on passing pilgrims and tenders alike.
Moss Mother
An adult Mossmir with a fully developed stinger and hardened hide. Motherhood is an instinct that can push creatures beyond what seems their natural limits, turning even weaker beasts like these into formidable foes.
Nyleth
Ancient heart of Shellwood, connected to all its living things. Her presence would once have maintained the wood’s fragile order, allowing the safe passage of bugs across its branches.
Palestag
Fabled first Cloverstag of Verdania’s wilds. Commands the grass and leaves to aid its attack. This creature seemed completely at one with the flora around it, a myth made real in memory.
Phantom
A mournful creature tasked alone to expel the Citadel’s choking refuse. Their talent with a longpin is unmatched. Though grey with age, their frayed form suggested a being strung from Silk, one who welcomed a decisive end in combat over a slow decline.
Pinstress
Blade maiden of a once renown warrior sect, survived long beyond the rest of her order. Her willingness to teach and her spirit still strong, despite a long age spent solitary, earns respect.
Plasmified Zango
Husk of an alchemist’s assistant granted false life by Plasmium. He carelessly seeded these caves with that cursed substance… His final fate seems a fair reward for those efforts, yet I feel some sympathy. It is an alluring power.
Raging Conchfly
A solo encounter with the Great Conchfly that escaped in the double Great Conchfly boss battle.
Savage Beastfly
An angered, adult Beastfly with a weighty body and a thickened hardshell mask. Its roar stirs something deep within, some primal instinct. Civilization encroaches from this kingdom's crown, but the lowlands are still ruled by great beasts.
Second Sentinel
Cogwork knight of Pharloom, once protector of its pilgrims, and master of the scissor blade. The talent and intelligence of this construct goes far beyond others I have witnessed. They seem less built as a tool to serve than an attempt at life itself.
Shakra
Warrior cartographer of a tribe from Pharloom's edge. Her skills in battle could challenge the kingdom's best. She has lived a mere fraction of my lifetime and yet her rings prove a ferocious match. As gifted a warrior as I have ever encountered, and one I am fortunate to call a friend.
Shrine Guardian Seth
Eternal defender of Shellwood Shrine. His pin and cymbal show many marks of their use. He offered fair warning and challenge, a duel in the purest sense. The editor admires his honor and his skill.
Sister Splinter
An imposing old insect nesting in the heights of Shellwood. Her command of twig and branch ensured no pilgrim ever survived within her territory. This one lived long and fed much. The wood will be much safer for their slaying.
Skarrgard
Huge ant hunter tasked to protect the stores and passages of its tribe. Theirs is the perfect shell for their duty, a wall of a warrior and an adept fighter. If I hope to claim their treasures, I must bring my best.
Skarrsinger Karmelita
Song queen of the Skarr and their most talented warrior. This graceful ruler once possessed skill to rival my own. At her youthful peak, her voice united all Skarr in her service.
Skull Tyrant
A rare, enormous Skull Scuttler, and the Marrow's largest predator. It is feared for its ferocious temperament. Though surely fierce, the skull it bears looks taken from an even larger beast. If not for the bones as proof, one would scarcely believe bugs could grow to such scale.
Summoned Saviour
A creature born of a bug’s desperate hope for strength. Few possess the skill to call the void, and of those that can, none possess the means to tame it. It is a mass of old masks swollen and animated by writhing void.
The Unravelled
The tormented will of countless husks, made manifest in a pit of Silk dregs. These are the souls of many bugs, obsessed with Silk and ultimately consumed by it. Their pain shall forever remain in that pit, a torment even the strongest cannot cleanse.
Tormented Trobbio
A depressed thespian consumed by the melancholy of a collapsing world. This foe chose to embrace the doom to come, unlike the hunter who will not share such easy surrender.
Trobbio
A haughty thespian convinced that only a dazzling performance can raise Pharloom from the throes of death. His desire to see Pharloom saved may have been well-intentioned, but he seemed quite happy for others to die upon the stage in pursuit of his goal.
Voltvyrm
A coiled nest of charged worms that assaults intruders with bolts of crackling electricity. Despite possessing only basic thought, instinct alone proved enough to turn it deadly.
Watcher at the Edge
An old warrior who has long guarded the border of their domain, stiffened by time but awoken by song. They held long at their vigil, far beyond the age of their brethren, yet still when roused they swung their blade with remarkable ease.
Widow
A crazed fanatic able to guide Pharloom’s haunted Silk by music played upon it. Her body seemed a Weaver’s, but her mask had been forcibly removed, and her own Silk was bound useless by heavy pins lodged through her spine.
Aknid
A winged insect that feeds upon moss and lichen in the caves above Bone Bottom. In its natural state, it would avoid potential predators, but Pharloom's Haunting now compels it to aggression. Fortunately, its jaws are ill-suited for combat.
Alita
A leaping hunter of a bygone age, Alita is the swiftest of their sect and is deftly skilled with spinning foreblades. In contests of speed against strength, the swift are more often triumphant, a lesson taken to heart.
Barnak
A toothy growth that lives on cave roofs. It wraps wayward bugs with its long tongue and drags them up to be consumed. There is impressive style to this one's trickery, hiding its tongue amongst fronds that are so similar.
Beastfly
An aggressive fly found in the lowlands of Pharloom, known for ramming prey with its hardbone mask. Dancing around this simple creature as it charges back and forth is a game that brings delight. However, there are more pressing matters to attend to.
Bloatroach
Obese offshoot of Muckroaches, born of the Citadel’s exhaust smog. The winged roach’s sagging stomach is filled with sizzling bile. Its form is absurd; surely it should not be able to hold itself in the air? The noxious gases in its stomach must provide its levity.
Brushflit
Tiny, timid creatures that huddle in flocks and flee at the first hint of danger. They call out to warn their fellows at the smallest sense of threat. A successful hunt here means staying silent and hidden right up until the decisive strike.
Burning Bug
A many-legged insect fanatically obsessed with flame. These insects have learned to call and guide the scorching Wisps that inhabit their thicket, whether through dominance or reverence is unclear.
Caranid
Common winged bugs found in the lowlands. They are generally docile but will attack if they perceive a threat. Their plump, round shape makes them well-suited for target practice; it's difficult to resist testing one's aim on them.
Choir Bellbearer
Winged devout of the Citadel, carrying a brace of gilded bells. Pharloom proves often the effectiveness of bells as weapons. Never before had I considered them as such.
Choir Clapper
A mighty percussive disciple of the Choir, wielding a mallet and a Silk spool to wrap and enhance its attacks. There is no finesse in its use of Silk; it consumes its slim supply only to amplify its force.
Choir Elder
An aged former pilgrim that uses their wings to position themselves above threats and crush them under their large, thick shell, which has grown with time all the better for battering their targets.
Choir Flyer
Aerial bug of the Citadel, unarmed but for its short horn. For this bug to have survived Pharloom’s climb it must have teamed with stouter companions. It cannot imagine it succeeding alone.
Choir Hornhead
A full-grown former pilgrim serving the Citadel. Did this one grow large thanks to the Citadel's excess, or was its formidable size the reason it ever survived to reach this place?
Choir Pouncer
Agile bug, and one of few hardy pilgrims to have reached the Citadel. Once one of Pharloom’s favoured bugs, and yet their domain and their shells would have been the first to fall to the Haunting.
Choristor
Disciple of the Choir, elevated above other pilgrims, and forced to cowl their face forever more. Their use of a pin shows hard training. Their use of Silk, unfurled from a spool held close, shows skill far beyond standard bugs.
Clawmaiden
Puppet servant of the Citadel, suspended on strings of Silk. An early form of automaton, requiring extensive Silk to maintain its service. If given a chance, this one will steal Silk from any significant source, including my own shell.
Cloverstag
A placid native of Verdania, the Cloverstag's hide closely mimics the flora of its territory. This impressive act of mimicry suggests their clover caves have sustained them through generations uncounted.
Cogwork Choirbug
A bug forged of iron, rotor, and cog. This automaton works tirelessly to maintain the Core that houses it. Its core is filled with fine mechanisms, but that alone should not produce such a convincing mimic of life; silk must also be used to animate this artifice, though exactly how is not yet understood.
Cogwork Clapper
A rare automaton intended to perform the ringing of bells and cymbals in the depths of the Core. The bell this automaton is designed to ring is one the hunter has not yet seen, and hopes never to hear, as such a clamour would no doubt be unpleasant to experience.
Cogwork Cleanser
A steam-shooting automaton, forged to clean the Cogwork Core and keep it free of infestation. Its construction is an inspired use of steam, notable for potential future tool design.
Cogwork Crawler
An automaton built in the shape of a scuttling bug. Its back contains retractable pins, intended to cut song cylinders free of any obstruction. Its form is certainly based on bugs found outside the Citadel, and its creator often looked to nature for inspiration in their craftwork.
Cogwork Defender
A cogwork construct forged primarily for the Core's protection. It bears a shield and poke-pin, and possesses a lethal understanding of their use. While it has no true mind, it fights effectively, adjusting its strategy to the player's movements.
Cogwork Hauler
A small automaton with a shielded shell, designed to carry loads of dangerous flintflame. Born and built only to work until time stiffens its limbs. This construct knows nothing of the freedom it lacks.
Cogwork Spine
A spherical, winged automaton housing many sharp spikes. Its function to the greater Core is undecipherable; its passivity seems far from optimal, making its defensive capabilities questionable.
Cogwork Underfly
A small automaton constructed to tirelessly operate within the intense heat of the Underworks' Cauldron. It is understandable why such constructs were forged, as no living creature could endure the scorching environment for long; even the hunter's own shell found it challenging to withstand the heat.
Cogworker
A flighted automaton responsible for repairing and extending the Core. Despite its simple appearance, the Cogworker can be a surprisingly effective opponent due to the precarious nature of its winding domain, making even its basic assaults a challenge.
Conchfly
A small bug that crafts a shell of sharpened coral. It spins its shell at rapid speed to cut through crust and bone. The way it darts in and out of the ground has an almost playful quality to it, making for an amusing and effective way to ambush prey.
Coral Furm
A dark-furred bug that protects itself with a spiked coral nut. Its fur is thick and silky, but it has been lost to its Haunting.
Corrcrust Karaka
An overgrown elder that can spawn burning bubbles from within its coral-cased shell. This bug's fusion with the crust-growth seems intentional, though the union is likely far from comfortable.
Covetous Pilgrim
A strong bug adorned with rosaries. If angered, they will whip their strings in a ceaseless onslaught. Their abundance raises questions about purity versus greed in this land.
Craggler
A thick-plated scuttler that prefers high places. It holds an extensive supply of searing acid in a layered sack within its shell. The acid rains from its mouth upon any creature it sees as food.
Cragglite
The infant form of the more formidable Craggler. If left to grow, these young bugs will fight for dominance until only one remains.
Craw
A screeching scavenger that roosts high in caverns and preys on passing pilgrims. By this swooping menace, a simple bug could be easily overcome. They are more dangerous still, as they rarely attack alone.
Craw Juror
A screeching scavenger dyed black in mourning at their land’s collapse. They are weak, afraid, and aware of the imminent end. While their desperation is understandable, their death will not prevent the coming fall.
Crustcrag
A coral hulk with a dense shell, bred to immense size by the Citadel's Memorium. This bug was born tiny and mild, but the Citadel deformed it in the futile hope it may sustain.
Crustcrawler
A soft-shelled scrambler encased in coral. Hidden amongst their tower's matching crust, these smaller bugs would have survived and thrived.
Deep Diver
Bell-clad bug responsible for mining the deeper, treacherous depths below their docks. Their heavier bells armour them well against strikes, but against oppressive heat, they may struggle.
Drapefly
Erratic, flying pest that nests in rags and curtains. Like fabric somehow sprung to life, its pelt is perfectly matched to the rags it infests.
Drapelord
Elder Drapefly grown big from age and consumption. Its heavy body allows it to hit much harder than its younger companions. Greed will always see some bugs swell above their kin.
Drapemite
A cloth-covered crawler with sharpened forelimbs that lives and breeds in dark places. Pharloom’s structures seem almost built for them, with endless corners and cracks perfect for mites to burrow and nest.
Dreg Catcher
A bug charged with catching dregs of Silk that fall from the Citadel. It will attack with its staff if provoked. These bugs appear to have spent every waking moment at their work, a grim, endless labor in service of the unseen Citadel above.
Dreg Husk
Remains of a Citadel bug possessed by Silk dregs. The husk will lash out wildly with the many sharp pins caught inside its thread. There is old anguish bound upon these threads, the result of countless cruel procedures.
Dregwheel
Shell of a small bug possessed by Silk dregs. The husk will stretch its Silk to form a crude, crushing wheel. Living Silk commanding a dead shell is an affront to nature, and one all too common across Pharloom.
Driftlin
A gentle glider found in Mount Fay. Its downy wings and cowl provide resistance to extremely cold temperatures. This creature would make a perfect pet, were it not for the freezing conditions it requires to be comfortable.
Driznarga
A large, male Driznit that is ferocious and territorial. It fires its heavy coral mask at intruders. Its aggression does not affect its aim, making it a fine shot.
Driznit
A nesting creature that fuses its face with sharpened coral. It is easy to be caught off-guard by the ricocheting trajectory of its flung mask, especially in tight corners.
Ductsucker
A suction creature that survives on the thick slime coating its caves. This mindless bug seems to sense only through its tendrils, yet despite that simplicity it still poses a serious threat.
Elder Pilgrim
A thick-set bug consumed by haunted thread. It uses its solid frame to crush others. A lucky bug to be able to grow old, as Pharloom's roads take most much earlier.
Envoy
A guide and often leader within the Citadel's Choir. These beings crossed the caves to reach Pharloom, initially appearing minded and cunning, but closer observation reveals a singular will driving them.
Escalion
A blindingly fast, winged warrior able to launch pointed pinions from its forelimbs. Born with many tools, these were once desired by some, but with hard training, limits can be overcome.
Fertid
A skittish scrambler found in the Far Fields. Its antennae resemble stalks of grass, aiding in its camouflage. It has no means to defend itself, relying solely on being mistaken for a plant for survival.
Flapping Fertid
A docile bug whose wings mimic the grasses of the Far Fields. When roosting, it would look convincingly plant like, but in flight, its bulbous body quickly ruins the ruse. It is a common snack for larger predators.
Flintbeetle
A rarely seen beetle that spends most of its life nestled deep in bone and rock. The Flintgems on its shell excrete an explosive powder. Its bright gems could be used to make beautiful, but short-lived jewellery, an amusing idea for a gift or a trap.
Flintflame Flyer
A brave worker carrying unstable flintflame, they wear a heavy bell to protect against potential ignition. Theirs would be a high-risk life, followed by a short, searing end.
Flintstone Flyer
An aerial worker lost to Pharloom's Haunting. The Flintstone Flyer bears a pouch full of flintstone, which it will fling at intruders. The incendiary material they carry is a natural wonder with many potential applications, making it a waste to carelessly throw it at passersby.
Fluttermite
Airborne pest, less common than its grounded siblings. Attacks with sharp fangs if agitated. Similar bugs would gnaw away at unguarded food supplies in my homeland. As a child I would hunt them, eager to make use of myself and test my skills.
Freshfly
An infant fly, freshly hatched. At this age, the soft, blind fly is little more than a bother. The less these gruesome bugs breed, the better.
Furm
A burrower that nests in the Bellvein, seeking out hard bells to protect its soft body. The hunter's notes express a desire to feel their soft fur, despite their hostility.
Gahlia
A floral foe with a core shaped to mimic a mask. The core can be thrust forth to bludgeon unwary bugs. The false mask alone is frightening enough to scare away smaller pests.
Gargant Gloom
An enormous tubular beast uniquely suited to living close to the void below. Amazingly, the creature carries the void’s black liquid in its stomach, violently spraying it forth if threatened.
Garpid
A sightless burrower that reacts violently to the slightest sound. Though a common bug, their acute senses compensate for their lack of vision, making them a foe not to be underestimated.
Giant Drapemite
A full-sized mite found in the Citadel, cloaked in an old curtain. Few creatures of that Silk-stricken place would find nourishment enough to grow so large.
Gloomsac
A tiny, empty creature that is barely a bug. It swallows its prey whole and sucks their nutrients until nothing remains. The hunter notes that this creature is disturbing due to its simplicity, and that the hunter almost feels fear.
Grand Reed
A high-standing insect of the Choir, bearing a bow. This elite Reed has been trained and fed beyond its smaller fellows. This bug bears a spool of Silk, which they flail to attack. Though somewhat crude, theirs is a technique much reminiscent of Weavers. I wonder who taught them such a use?
Grom
A burrowing worm that uses its many blunted teeth to dig through even the hardest bone. They ceaselessly churn through rock and bone without ever seeming to rest. Do they have a destination? Or are they compelled to dig forever deeper?
Gromling
Young masked worms that delight in ambushing intruders within their tunnels. They are frustrating fiends that flee beneath the bone whenever you try to strike them down.
Guardfly
A starved servant of the Slab, bearing a hooked longpin. The smell from these jailers is overwhelming, and it is strongly doubted they have ever thought to bathe.
Hardbone Elder
A tall creature with sharp senses, the Hardbone Elder defends its herd with powerful legs and a sharp-tipped mask. There is surprising strength hidden in its thin, elegant limbs.
Hardbone Hopper
A grazing creature with sharp senses that nimbly retreats from danger. Despite the haunting of its shell, it has not been overcome with aggression, as its desire to flee remains too strong.
Hoker
Spine-shooting drifter of the lowlands. Whatever admiration I had for its fleecy down is spoilt by its disturbing mask and its steely spines.
Huge Flea
An oversized flea, briefly consumed by anger after its long confinement in a cage. The hunter noted its impressive size and marvelled at its existence, pleased that it ceased its aggressive behaviour before a killing blow was necessary.
Hunter's Journal
The Hunter's Journal is a bestiary containing details of every enemy. New entries are added automatically upon defeating a new enemy type. Additional notes are unlocked upon defeating a specific number of each enemy type. The journal entries detail how many you must defeat.
Imoba
A slow drifting bug with a heavy top shell. The Imoba reacts little to threats, even those that could claim its life. It appears to have lived a life too calm and coddled, and would not fare well in the world beyond its walls.
Judge
A gilded guardian of the Blasted Steps, bearing a cymbal and mallet. They remorselessly eliminate any pilgrim or passerby deemed impure to their sight. The countless husks, strewn on paths beside them, tell of their conclusive decisions.
Kai
Plump, plentiful drifter of a coral past. They once teemed around their tower, in numbers immense. It is a rare chance to witness such a bountiful display of life.
Kakri
Lithe, winged scouts frequently paired with their heavier brethren. Its training resembles that of the user, favoring fast strikes and rapid movement. It was once a hunter.
Karak Gor
A heavy, hard-shelled charger that relies on its weight and strength. They appear to have lived their whole lives within their encrusted domain, commanding it as if it were their own tower.
Karaka
Staunch and skilled bladebug of a once flourishing land lost to time. The core member of a powerful order, trained fearless and faithful. Theirs was a kingdom of warriors, one built upon their blades.
Kilik
A small, boney bug that favors dark tunnels. It can expand its spiked carapace to ward against attacking predators. The hunter notes mention a fondness for simple, effective traps like this bug's extendable spikes, which would skewer an unwary predator clean through.
Kindanir
Child of Verdania, fully capable to fight despite its young age. Fierce and fast, and defending their lands even from birth. These are children to be proud of.
Lampbearer
A disciple of the Whispering Vaults, tasked with navigating its dim recesses to retrieve old scrolls. They are an essential bug for anyone hoping to navigate the dark maze of stacks and scrolls within the vaults.
Last Claw
An elite former hunter serving as the final line of defense before their mother. Their skill once led to their selection for this duty, implying a life dedicated to training for this specific role.
Lavalarga
A fully grown mollusc capable of unleashing a gushing torrent of burning fluid from its back. To survive while storing so much searing fluid within would have been believed impossible before, but Pharloom is home to many marvels.
Lavalug
A sticky mollusc that defends itself by spraying burning fluid from growths on its back. What seems at first a purely defensive mechanism may also be necessary to rid this creature of excess heat.
Leaf Glider
A fine winged flyer that survives in flocks. They are so light they can rest atop still water’s surface, making them an elegant bug indeed.
Leaf Roller
A pointed scurrier that poses as plant life. Another fine bug lost forever from these lands.
Maestro
The choir commander of the High Halls, capable of summoning and commanding cogflies with a flick of their baton. Once they summoned song from their subjects, but now they rise only to command an end to those unstrung.
Marrowmaw
A giant roller found in the lowlands. Its ridged hide is capable of crushing smaller creatures beneath its immense bulk. This creature likely spends most of its time eating to sustain itself, a lifestyle deemed acceptable by some.
Massive Mossgrub
An unnaturally overgrown Mossgrub, bred within the Citadel's Memorium. Hunters Notes: So close to a perfect furred form... If only they'd been able to breed out the spines.
Mawling
A young, boney bug that can curl its body to form a ball. Their rough, ridged shell grips tight to any surface, allowing them to traverse walls and roofs with ease.
Memoria
A learned disciple of the Choir, tasked with maintaining the Citadel's Memorium. From the outset, theirs was a hopeless task, as those wild lands could never be replicated within a space so artificial.
Minister
A gold-ranked disciple of the Choir and a direct servant to the Citadel’s Conductors. The lethality of these bugs is unexpected, as their bodies were never built for combat; however, the Haunting has altered their nature dramatically.
Miremite
A crawling insect with a sizzling bile sack in its abdomen. The threat of its exploding rear is an effective deterrent to predators, but the slightest jolt or fall can cause its premature end.
Mite
A verminous pest common throughout the dark corners of Greymoor. Individually they offer little challenge, but their numbers are surely vast and most remain hidden.
Mitemother
An aged female mite, grown larger and stronger than most of its kin. Possessing a keen sense of smell despite poor sight, it uses its bulk to charge at foreign scents. Remaining fierce so far into old age is an admirable trait.
Mnemonid
A flighted creature formed from coldshard that will quickly reform if shattered. The coldshard, even when destroyed, remembers its former shape, containing a remarkable material and what appears to be life.
Mnemonord
A huge, flighted creature formed from coldshard. This larger form carries so much weight that it can barely move from its place.
Mortician
An altered servant of the Citadel's Whiteward, responsible for the cremation of husks and the recycling of Silk from their shells. It lies low to the ground, perhaps out of reverence for its task, but can spring up suddenly to attack. Its shear makes for a deadly weapon with surprising reach.
Mossgrub
A fur-covered crawler with a series of sharp spikes along its back. If not for the spikes, one might consider it an appealing bug.
Mossmir
A small, fluttering creature capable of defending itself with its small stinger. This bug is soft and clumsy, but to its fortune its home caves seem relatively free of effective predators.
Mothleaf Lagnia
A rare, calmer bug found in Bilewater, it survives its hazardous surroundings by hiding as a plant. This bug is pretty, but not as soft as it first appears. The plant it mimics is flaked and coarse, and the bug’s coat shares a similar texture.
Muckmaggot
Mindless infant larva, coated in thick slime. They cling fast to the shells of other bugs, destroying any hope for concentration or comfort.
Muckroach
Starved pack bugs with an insatiable appetite. Despite their tough hide and pungent meat, roaches breed rapidly so are sometimes farmed for food. They make their home at Sinner's Road.
Nuphar
A predatory plant with a powerful jaw shaped to resemble a lily pad. It is a snapping surprise on first encounter, though one easily avoided once aware.
Overgrown Pilgrim
An aged pilgrim, overgrown with lichen and moss. The moss appears to grow even inside their stomach, which the pilgrim spits at foes in compressed gobs, a foul form of offense.
Pendra
A flighty insect that lives beside still waters. Though generally passive, their sharp masks can cause injury if carelessly blundered into.
Pendragor
A heavy insect that lives near large bodies of water. Its weighty body is best avoided. When they do not hinder your path, their simple motion is rather pleasant.
Penitent
A humbled prisoner serving their sentence for sins committed within the Citadel. All are haunted here, the jailers and the jailed. They may not realize they will never leave this place, or how long they have already stayed.
Phacia
A drifting bug disguised as a flower. If threatened, it disperses crackling clouds of pollen. It is a beautiful creature that would have been highly favoured as an ornamental pet in one's own kingdom's court.
Pharlid
Small arachnids found in many crevices and caves throughout Pharloom. Something in their assault reminds the hunter of their own skill, though the creatures' talents are born purely of instinct, while the hunter's technique is formed from hard training.
Pharlid Diver
Arachnids that nestle within dark holes in cavern roofs. They pounce on prey from far above. A smart hunter learns to wait long in ambush, always ready to strike the first blow.
Pilgrim Bellbearer
A common bug wielding a set of old bells. The bug will fling the bells at anyone it deems still free. Their bells would once have rung with hope and mirth, lifting the spirits of any climbing companions. Sadly, those instruments have turned purely to combative use.
Pilgrim Groveller
A basic bug of Pharloom, laid low upon the ground. Taken by Pharloom’s Haunting, the bug is now capable of little more than prayer and aggression.
Pilgrim Guide
Old pilgrim carrying a heavy iron bell staff. The large bell seems to signify them as once leader of a climbing troupe, though the Haunting has erased that former authority.
Pilgrim Hiker
A hard-shelled bug with a climber’s pin. Their pin, once used as aid, has become a weapon, though the bug is unrefined in its use. This bug was once frail, pushed by twisted thread beyond its mortal limits.
Pilgrim Hornfly
A short pilgrim that uses its long horn to launch itself upon threats. In its assault, it becomes its own projectile.
Pilgrim Hulk
A sturdy bug lost to the Haunting. It rolls at threats with no care for its own discomfort. This rare, built bug is found within the ailing lands, with most pilgrims' shells seeming small by comparison. It makes one wonder what nourishment they discovered to grow so large.
Pilgrim Pouncer
An agile bug of Pharloom whose higher functions have been lost to the Haunting. With a softer shell than most, they would have relied on their athleticism to survive.
Plasmid
A mutated young worm infected with Plasmium. This new form displays potent regenerative skill. Pharloom shall quickly learn the curse of this substance; the benefits it provides can be swiftly outweighed.
Plasmidas
A large worm heavily mutated by Plasmium, fused to the roof of its cave and no longer able to move freely. In its home caves, when this substance was allowed to flourish, similar aberrations were seen; a wonder tainted strong with revulsion.

A drifting creature with a wide coral mask and a hard proboscis used to stab its prey. It passively waits for prey to blunder into its path, a technique that should not necessarily be derided, as whatever is effective is best.
Pollenica
A floral foe that reacts instinctively to movement nearby, spitting pellets of crackling pollen that burst on impact. It possesses exceptional senses, detecting movement with ease even when no sound is made.

An old catcher found near Shellwood Pond, distinguished by a longpin and affliction from the Haunting. Once a hunter solely for sustenance, they now hunt without thought or end.

A disciple of the Choir, charged to maintain its perfect order, by sharp pin if necessary. This form is well suited for combat, being lithe and fast, which explains its high rank amongst the cult.
Rhinogrund
A long-horned beast native to Pharloom's lowlands. It relies on its formidable horn to impale foes and to wrench the ground beneath it, flinging dangerous debris. Hunters Notes suggest that certain tools and skills can pierce its defenses, indicating a need to adjust strategy when facing this creature.

A tall roach tender charged with feeding Muckroaches a lean diet of maggot gruel. The feeder's curled pin looks designed to keep ravenous roaches at bay, and the tender from turning into the meal.

Sticky young flies, born and grown in service to the Slab. These foul creatures are birthed into servitude, and their plight elicits no sympathy.

Servitor Boran
A broken construct built by Weavers of the past, the Servitor Boran is able to fire a focused beam of silklight to carve halls and chambers through ice and bone. It has been heavily damaged by time and the elements, causing its actions to become erratic and unable to discern friend from foe.

Shardillard
A devious ambusher that poses as a fossil. Once roused, the bug will crash its steely shell into walls, floors, and foes.

A darting predator that clings fast to roofs and outcrops, often summoned to aid its larger companions. They would make effective hunting companions, though even without the Haunting, their loyalty would always remain to their clan.
Skrill
A common crawler that lives beneath the sand. This surface dweller is free of Silk; its nature remains its own. The monarch's influence must only have stretched below it.

Smelt Shoveller
A low-level worker lost to Pharloom’s haunting. Instinct keeps them at their task, though in a much simpler fashion than before. This kingdom appears more advanced in metalwork than my own ever was, in great part due to the natural heat source at its base. Working in such an environment is an impressive feat.

A cymbal-bearing worker of the Deep Docks. It pans hauls of smokerock to find traces of more precious minerals. The Haunting has stolen some important part of these bugs, yet still they attempt their former task. Until they sense your presence.

Pernicious looter found all over Pharloom. While these bothersome bugs are left free to forage, no loose rosary or trinket is safe.

A steel-horned floater that can defend itself and its companions. It is a critical member of the larger flock, and its absence would lead the Kai to extinction by larger predators.
Spit Squit
A hovering pest with a hollowed proboscis capable of spitting gobs of sizzling bile. To subsist on the sickly water in its fetid environment, it spits out the most toxic elements. Over generations, this former survival technique has turned into an effective hunting tool.

Splinterbark
A winged insect with a flakey shell that perfectly mimics its environment. Its assault is described as being like a young bug’s toy turned deadly, prompting contemplation on whether a spinning tool could be fashioned to match its capabilities.
Splinterhorn
An insect that imitates a branch, born with sharp, retractable horns atop its head. Its shell provides the advantage of surprise, but also results in a slender, brittle shape that cannot withstand a heavy attack.

Stilkin
A cunning bug that hunts with darts fashioned from stake and bile. They know well their domain, lurking in wait in its byways and bogs, always ready to pounce.
Stilkin Trapper
A bug that sets traps, carrying a pouch of sharpened long-stakes. More bothersome than the bug itself are the countless traps they have already laid throughout their caves.

A plentiful pest with a sharp proboscis and a belly full of bile. This creature is more dangerous in the moment of its explosive and corrosive death than it ever was in life.
Tallcraw
A rag-winged adult crawbug that has scavenged a pin. They are far more hostile than their younger companions but seem less likely to roam far from their nest.
Tallcraw Juror
An elder crawbug that serves in a sacred ceremony. Curiosity led the narrator to answer their summons, but they intend to finish their work quickly to rectify a grand mistake.
Tarmite
A flying bone mite found near magma. It roasts its prey by spitting scorching tar. Its sticky spit would no doubt make a useful crafting material if molded fresh.

A tall bug tasked with accumulating Silk dregs for respooling. Their sharp rake serves equally well as a stabbing weapon. Their existence seems to be a sad, grueling task, serving their lifetime for a Citadel unseen.
Undercrank
A heavy, hard-shelled worker perpetually engaged in the repair of the Citadel's decaying Underworks. Although ranks do not appear to exist in their domain, this particular individual seems to have achieved a higher standing through intimidation and thuggery.

A drained yet dedicated labourer, wielding a coarse steel brush. It is futile to hope they could ever keep their domain clean.

A feeble servant of the Underworks, characterized by its long twistpin and hard shell. Its stiff shell would be essential for survival amidst the constant collapse of refuse throughout its domain.

Vaultkeeper
A high-caste bug responsible for delivering sermons and leading prayer for those beyond the walls of the Whispering Vaults. It is most likely that this one's true charge was to root out and condemn those not seen as sufficiently fervent.
Verdanir
A darting warrior with sharpened forelimbs and heightened senses. They rarely relax, always alert for potential danger, even deep in their own territory. To defeat them, one must match their focus.

An aggressive, winged bug native to the lowlands. When angered, it rapidly whips its bladed tail as a weapon. Its wings are quite small compared to its bulk, suggesting it may use the warm air of these fiery lands to aid in flight.
Void Mass
A dense knot of husks bound tight by void-soaked Silk. The Silk and shells are corrupted, and the void now seeks to claim the land whole. These poor shells are only the beginning.
Void Tendrils
Lashing fragments of pure darkness, shaped into sharpened tentacles. The void that will claim all things… In the barbed forms it chooses, its nature can be seen clear.

A mindless sack filled with Plasmium. When broken, the Plasmium can be consumed for temporary health benefits. Its unique shell can resist the darker deformations of this substance, but even it has limits.
Winged Pilgrim
A short-horned bug born with underdeveloped wings. Its flight is barely sufficient, and while it may lift from the ground, its sad wings would never carry it far.
Winged Pilgrim Bellbearer
A pilgrim endowed with large wings, carrying a brace of iron bells. Their union of flight and range can prove a challenge, especially on uneven terrain.
Wingmould
A false fly with a rune-etched shell, representing a tortured mix of soul and void. It is described as a crude construct from a fallen domain, and a fool's belief that void can be fashioned to do their bidding.
