Silksong: Vaultkeeper's Melody Quest

Vaultkeeper’s Melody is a main quest required to complete Pharloom’s Crown. This quest sends you deep into the Cogwork Core and the Whispering Vaults to find one of the three melodies needed to reach the Citadel’s peak.

This path tests your curiosity and platforming skills, requiring you to uncover a hidden route to find a long-lost artifact.

How to Start the Quest

The quest automatically begins after you defeat the Cogwork Dancers at the top of the Citadel. An ancient mechanism will activate, giving you the Pharloom’s Crown quest.

Path to Whispering Vaults

  1. Enter the Cogwork Core

    Section titled “Enter the Cogwork Core”

    After defeating the Cogwork Dancers, drop down into one of the newly opened gaps to enter the Cogwork Core. Your goal is to head east (right), following the path. Following the initial path inside the Cogwork Core.

  2. Section titled “Navigate the Cogwheel Puzzles”

    Continue east through the Core. Use your Clawline and pogo attacks on the moving cogwheels to propel yourself across the gaps. The arrows on your map will guide the general direction. Using the cogwheels to traverse a large gap.

  3. Reach the Choral Chambers Bridge

    The final section of the Cogwork Core will lead you to a large, rotating wheel bridge in the Choral Chambers. Approaching the eastern exit of the Cogwork Core.

  4. Enter the Whispering Vaults

    Activate the lever to rotate the bridge, creating a path. Cross it to enter the Whispering Vaults. Activating the rotating bridge in the Choral Chambers to access the Whispering Vaults.

Find Cardinius and Defeat Trobbio

  1. Locate Cardinius’s Room

    Section titled “Locate Cardinius’s Room”

    Once inside the Whispering Vaults, proceed until you enter a large vertical chamber. The second entrance on the right leads to a room with a bench. This is the room of Vaultkeeper Cardinius. The entrance area of the Whispering Vaults.

  2. Defeat Trobbio

    Section titled “Defeat Trobbio”

    Explore the vertical chamber to find and unlock the path to “The Stage.” Here you must fight and defeat the boss, Trobbio. After the fight, proceed right to find an elevator. The elevator leading down to the Underworks, accessible after defeating Trobbio.

The Underworks Path to the Sacred Cylinder

  1. Descend to the Underworks

    Ride the elevator all the way down to the Underworks. Riding the elevator down into the Underworks.

  2. Reveal the Hidden Path

    At the bottom, hit the lever to send the elevator back up, but do not get on it. A hidden passage will be revealed in the floor.

    Drop into the new path. This is a difficult platforming section with spikes and enemies. Proceed carefully through the first chamber. Navigating the first platforming chamber in the Underworks.

  2. Cross the Spike Gauntlet

    Section titled “Cross the Spike Gauntlet”

    Continue northeast, using your glide and wall-jump abilities to get past the spike-lined corridors. Traversing a narrow, spike-filled passage.

  3. Emerge in Lower Whispering Vaults

    Section titled “Emerge in Lower Whispering Vaults”

    The end of the Underworks path will lead you out into the lower, previously inaccessible part of the Whispering Vaults. Re-entering the Whispering Vaults from the Underworks exit.

  4. Find the Sacred Cylinder

    Section titled “Find the Sacred Cylinder”

    Rest at the bench you find, then head left into a secret room. The Sacred Cylinder is on a chest. Pick it up. Hornet picking up the Sacred Cylinder in the lower Whispering Vaults.

Complete the Quest

  1. Return to Cardinius

    Section titled “Return to Cardinius”

    After getting the cylinder, open the shortcut back to the upper Whispering Vaults and return to Vaultkeeper Cardinius’s room. Give him the cylinder. Giving the Sacred Cylinder to Vaultkeeper Cardinius.

  2. Learn the Melody

    Section titled “Learn the Melody”

    Cardinius will play the cylinder. Use your Needolin to listen and learn the Vaultkeeper’s Melody, completing the quest. Hornet plays the Needolin to learn the Vaultkeeper's Melody, completing the quest.
