Mist Puzzle Solution & Exhaust Organ Guide

So you’ve found The Mist in Bilewater. It’s a confusing, ghost-filled maze that resets if you take a wrong turn. This guide will get you through it, then lead you step-by-step up the treacherous Exhaust Organ tower that lies beyond, showing you how to find the bench, a secret Flea, and the entrance to the Phantom boss fight.

The Mist is a series of rooms that look the same, and the layout can change. If you fall into the fog at the bottom or take a wrong exit, you get sent back to the start. Don’t worry, there’s a trick to it.

  1. Find the Moths In each room, look for a small group of glowing white butterflies (or moths). These are your guides.

  2. Play Your Needolin Get close to the moths and play your Needolin. This will cause them to light up and float upwards.

  3. Follow Their Lead Stop playing your instrument. The moths will fly directly towards the one correct exit for that room. Follow them.

  4. Repeat Keep repeating this process for a few rooms. Eventually, you’ll reach a straight path that leads you out of the mist and to the entrance of the Exhaust Organ.

You’re out of the fog and in front of a big, steamy tower. This part is linear, but full of traps and a few secrets.

First thing’s first: set your checkpoint.

  1. Enter the Building Cross the worm-infested water and enter the large building to your right.

  2. Climb Up Go through the short corridor. When the room opens up, climb the platforms on the left side and scale the wall to the top. A diagram showing the climbing path, marked with arrows, up the left wall of the Exhaust Organ's main chamber to reach the bench.

  3. Free the Bench At the top, you’ll see a bench covered in thick cobwebs. Hit the webs with your needle a few times to clear them, then rest at the bench. This is your base for the rest of the climb. The cobweb-covered bench at the top of the initial climb, ready to be cleared and used as a checkpoint.

Now you need to open the main path upwards.

  1. Navigate the Steam Vents From the bench, drop down and head right. Go up the second vertical tunnel. It’s filled with steam jets that turn on and off. Time your jumps to get past them. There’s a small nook on the right you can duck into to wait for the second jet to pass.

  2. Reach the Elevator Continue through the next couple of tunnels. At a crossroads, drop down slightly and take the lower-left path. Hornet standing at the crossroads, with the path to the lower-left tunnel that leads to the elevator mechanism clearly visible.

  3. Break the Braces At the end of this path, you’ll find an old elevator held up by wooden planks. Attack the planks to break them. The elevator will crash to the bottom of the shaft, clearing the way. Hornet breaking the wooden braces holding the elevator, causing it to fall and open the main shaft for progression.

This is the main secret of the area and is very easy to miss.

  1. Return to the Elevator Shaft Go back to the main shaft that you just cleared by breaking the elevator.

  2. Find the Hidden Passage Climb or fly all the way to the top of this now-open shaft. On the left wall, walk straight into it. It’s a fake wall that leads to a secret passage. 3. Follow the Path Outside The passage will take you to an outside ledge. Follow the platforms to the left. The exterior platforms after the secret passage, with an arrow indicating the path to the left to find the hidden Flea.

You’re almost there.

  1. Navigate the Final Tunnels From the entrance to the secret Flea passage, head right into the last set of steam-filled tunnels. Climb carefully.

  2. Prepare for the Fight At the very top, there’s a silk spool on the right if you need to heal up and refill your silk.

  3. Enter the Arena The entrance to the Phantom boss fight is the doorway on the left. Good luck. The final path at the top of the Exhaust Organ, with the silk spool on the right and the entrance to the Phantom boss arena on the left.
